Fallen Branch (in the Australian Bush) 2018 | Dion Archibald | Oil on canvas 30x30cm
I used to pass these trees almost everyday when I lived close to the bush. It was a manicured 9 to 5 tick-tock middle class suburb but I lived on the edges of it so I had easy access to the bush.
On my way to the bush, walking on concrete pathways, I would pass many walkers with their earplugs plugged in to prevent any chance of thought, but by the time I went off the path and into the long grass to reach the forest there would be zero walkers.
I always thought it was a pity that the programmed and conditioned masses of flesh never ventured off their concrete paths into nature but I never complained as I would have the bush to myself.
